A center of excellence  in CNS

Our experts led Research Department at the forefront of CNS fields

Forenap : a major player in CNS innovation

Our research program explores different CNS physiological functions : we develop our expertise in the  field of neurosciences and more precisely in psychiatry, psychopharmacology, algology, neurology, electrophysiology and neuroimaging. Our research is focused on 4 main orientations :

  • CNS basic physiological states: sleep, wake, vigilance.
  • Acute pain states or chronic pain states : neuropathic pain is reproduced by techniques producing hyperalgesia and allodynia via chemical, immunological or physical mechanisms
  • Cognitive functions: learning, memory, attention, executive functions, emotions....
  • Emotional states : emotional biases or emotional deficits in neuropsychiatric diseases (anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disease), emotional fluctuations and/or drug induced mood changes.

Our biomarker studies result in innovative tests, notably in human models of different diseases : our clinical research process is optimized.

Strengthening our expertise

Having a unique partner for performing healthy volunteers studies and patient studies is a valuable asset in drug development. Located in the middle of a psychiatric hospital, Forenap is your partner from preclinical development to phase III studies. This continuity of service ensures a perfect control of your entire project.
Our CRO has access to advanced technical platforms and/or to high-tech medical imagery equipments (fMRI, PET-scan), but we also have in-house techniques (EEG, PSG, etc.).

Our research program in 2011 : the Year of Pain

Tests available: acute pain states

  • Inflammatory potentiation (topical capsaicin and UV erythem)
  • Selective analysis of TRPV1
  • Sensitivity to morphine (30 mg), to pregabaline (300 mg) and to ibuprofen (400 mg)
  • High test-retest reliability
  • 3 months on average for a 4 way cross-over study
  • Inter-compatible models (multi-array)

Tests ongoing: neuropathic pain states

  • Injected capsaicin compared to a high concentration of topic capsaicin: focus on hyperalgesia and on allodynia.
  • Injected recombinant Human NGF: long term potentiation of pain
  • Intradermal electric stimulation of C-fibers, central sensitization (wind-up), allodynia and secondary hyperalgesia with a needle free equipment: cross-over possible thanks to a non invasive method.
  • Other specific analyses for TRPV3 or TRPA1 and TNF
  • Multi-array approach similar to the acute pain model
